We are a volunteer and foster-based nonprofit organization.
Please give us up to 7 business days to process your application.

Most of our Shar-Pei come to us as adults, although we do get the occasional puppy. Our dogs arrive from shelters and owner surrenders. We carefully screen each dog for temperament and health. In addition, every dog is spayed/neutered, brought up to date on vaccinations and given heartworm and flea/tick preventative.

  • Any other pets in the home must be spayed/neutered.
  • NASPR will conduct a home visit.
  • NASPR will check vet references to ensure all other pets are up to date on vaccinations.

Once approved, the adoptive family will sign a contract. The contract states that the family agrees to provide all necessary medical care for your adopted friend and to house the dog in the manner that was agreed upon with NASPR. The contract also states that if, at any point, the family is unable to keep the adopted Shar-Pei, the dog must be returned to NASPR.

This means that the dog cannot be sold, given away, turned into animal control, given to a friend/ relative or otherwise disposed if. The contract is enforced for the lifetime of the dog.

ADOPTION GUIDELINES

Adoption fees are donations to help support the care of animals with NASPR. The standard fee is $350, although this varies based on the age and need of the dog.

This fee can often save you money, because NASPR will have the initial veterinary visits done while your Shar-Pei is waiting for a forever home.

ADOPTION FEES

Although we prefer to place Shar-Pei into homes within the state of Texas, we will consider out-of-state placements. All homes must have a home visit by one of our volunteers.

ADOPTABLE SHAR-PEIS

(ADOPTED) loki

New to the rescue, not ready to adopt but will be soon. Loki is a gorgeous, very playful, 1-year old bear coat. He has had entropion, but needs to be neutered before he can be adopted. He’s good with kids, but afraid of little ones, so he will do better in a home with older or no children. He’s good with dogs, not sure about cats.

Located in Dallas/Fort Worth.

(ADOPTED) BELLA

Sweet Bella has had a rough start to life. She is a black and tan around 3-4 years old. She needs a Shar-Pei savvy home with a lot of patience and a confident dog sibling, who she can learn from. She will need time to build trust, but once she does, she’ll be a sweetheart. We have placed several dogs like her into forever homes, who would be happy to share their stories and helpful tips to anyone interested in giving Bella a chance.
